Transcript: British Embassy Appoints Cat to Position of 'Chief Mouser' in Jordan Office

The British Embassy has appointed this cat, named Lawrence of Abdoun to the important job of chief mouser in their office in Amman Jordan.

The cat was previously living at the Battersea Dogs and Cats home before finding a new home with the foreign ambassador.

The new cat, known as Lawrencedipcat on Twitter will report to Palmerston, the chief mouser in the London office.

He has experience at life in an embassy, and knows all about growing a social media presence with over 50,000 followers watching for his updates.

Sharing his hard work with the masses.

And the hope is that Lawrence will be a quick study.

Deputy Ambassador Laura Dauban discussed how Lawrence will help the embassy in Jordan telling Reuters quote: "Through Lawrence’s Twitter account we’re trying to show a different side to Jordan, what it is really like, a peaceful, prosperous country that British tourists should come and visit.” I think an adorable cat is a good start to bringing British tourists to Jordan.
