PIMPRI CHINCHWAD:The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has summoned Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar to appear before it on Thursday in Mumbai, based on a complaint from Kashinath Nakhate, a citizen.

Hardikar is in Sweden on an official visit. Assistant commissioner Pravin Ashtikar who also holds charge as additional commissioner could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.

Nakhate said, "He received a copy of the letter sent by the commission stating that Hardikar has been summoned to appear before it in person on November 23."

His complaint states that PCMC's zonal offices conduct anti-encroachment drives against the hawkers and seize their stalls, handcarts, tables and other goods and do not return them. Nakhate demanded that the PCMC return the goods to the hawkers.
