Sir — This refers to editorial, “Don’t debut with a dud” (November 4). Actor-turned politician Kamal Haasan’s entry into politics is no surprise as film stars entering politics in Tamil Nadu is not new. The State itself has seen five Chief Ministers from the cinema world. But what Tamil Nadu needs today is a righteous, no-nonsense person.
With fingers crossed, one wonders if Haasan, in his new political avatar, can easily essay the character of a politician without being coerced to compromise his values and also direct people to perform their respective roles to the best of their abilities.
