Release Tahir, Javed immediately: PUCL

| Updated: Nov 21, 2017, 00:41 IST
Jaipur: Alleging that Tahir and Javed have been framed in the cow smuggling case, People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has demanded their immediate release.

The 42-year-old Ummar Khan was killed last Saturday when he was transporting cows to his village when he was hit with bullets. Tahir and Javed were travelling in the same vehicle.

"The Alwar district police should have arrested the killers, the so called gau-rakshaks, those who tried to destroy evidence. Instead the victims are being arrested," says PUCL in its statement.

"Tahir and Javed are victims in section 307 and eye witnesses in the Ummar killing. Basically the police just wantd to build pressure on these two as they are key witnesses in Ummar killing case and perhaps bargain a deal, frighten the two and dilute the case. This clearly showes that the government has given absolute impunity to the killers, they will strike again and again," says PUCL.
