Tiger cub falls victim to poacher’s snare

Udhagamandalam: A female tiger cub, aged around 18 months, was found dead in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) in the Nilgiris on Sunday.


The carcass was found with a snare around its neck at Imberallah Beat in Doddahatty section of Theppakadu range in MTR around 1pm, field director of MTR and Mukurthi National Park Srinivas R Reddy said.


"A postmortem has been scheduled for Monday. Steps are being taken to conduct the autopsy as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (Ntca) guidelines. The incident has been intimated to the higher officials," the official said.


An investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the death.
