(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Some 30 journalists
representing Arab and international media, hosted by the Supreme
Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), toured Al Bayt Stadium in Al
Khor, one of the stadiums to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The
journalists were briefed on the progress of the work at stadium by
officials who reaffirmed that the project, including the facilities
adjacent to it, would be completed by August 31 next year, when the
stadium will be fully ready to host the matches.
The media delegation
also inspected the workers' housing complex where they witnessed the
quality of life of the 5,000 workers. The journalists expressed their
amazement at the conditions there.
After touring the stadium, the
journalists visited the railway station where they were given a detailed
explanation of the work process by the supervisors. The tour will
continue today, when they will visit the SC headquarters at Al Badaa
Tower and meet the Secretary-General of SC Hassan al-Thawadi. Tomorrow
the delegation will visit the site of the Lusail Stadium, the Aspire
Academy and attend other events, including a meeting with Al Sadd star
Xavi Hernandez. The tour will conclude with a visit to the Museum of
Islamic Art.
