ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Thousands of supporters of Argentina's gay community marched through the streets of Buenos Aires on Saturday (November 18) in celebration of the 26th annual pride parade. Parade-goers gathered in the Plaza de Mayo to take part in a pride fair and view musical performances, and then marched 11 blocks on Avenida de Mayo to the Plaza de Congreso. In addition to parade floats, music and dancing, organizers set up booths to raise awareness about issues like access to housing and healthcare for the transgender community, gender-based violence, access to safe abortion and marijuana legalisation. Argentina is seen as a leader on gay, lesbian and transsexual rights in Latin America. It was the first Latin American country to allow same-sex civil unions in 2002 and the first country in Latin America to legalise same-sex marriages in 2010.
