Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe is poised to resign according to sources familiar with negotiations to oust him. Jacob Greaves reports.

Zimbawbwe's Robert Mugabe is expected to shortly resign as President- thats according to sources familair with negotiations to oust him. And the state broadcaster has confirmed Mugabe is poised to address the nation. Mugabe met for a second round of negotiations with military chiefs. Behind the salutes and handhakes an attempt to usher him out the door. Earlier ruling party Zanu-PF fired Mugabe as their leader, also expelling his wife Grace. Party members could be seen dancing to Mugabe's downfall. Here they also threatened the ruler of some 37 years with impeachment. It all follows a de facto military coup on wednesday (15 November). And on Saturday (19 November ) popular street celebrations signified he doesn't have the backing of the people either. Tens of thousands took part in jubilant demonstartions that ended with a march towards Mugabe's compound. All sanctioned by the military that seized control earlier in the week. And international attention is already looking to life after Mugabe The U.S. for one has said its looking forward to a new era. But, uncertianty remains as to whether Zimbabwe is just swapping one army backed autocrat for another.
