Centralised kitchen for Mid Day meal scheme proposed

The Education Minister Arvind Pandey presided over a meeting of officials of Akshaya Patra foundation, Hans foundation and education department at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi on Friday.

The setting up of centralized kitchens for Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme was discussed in the meeting. Pandey said that in the meeting the Hans foundation agreed to provide a budget for establishing seven centralized kitchens to the Akshaya Patra foundation.

The letter of acceptance would be provided to the state Government till November 27 this year. He informed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the state Government, Akshaya Patra and Hans Foundation would be signed by December 27. Pandey further informed that the centralized Kitchen of Dehradun would be inaugurated on January 12.

In the meeting the availability of land for centralized kitchens and expense involved in their establishment were discussed. The meeting was attended by Mangla Mata of Hans foundation, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hans Foundation, Lieutenant General S M Mehta (Rtd), Bharat Prabhu Das and S Narsing Das from Akshaya Patra foundation, Secretary Education Bhupinder Kaur Olakh, Additional Secretary Captain Alok Shekhar Tiwari and other senior officers of education department were present on the occasion.
