Ashok Tailor dies of ill health

Vadodara: Ashok Tailor, former talati and co-accused in the cash-for-marks scam at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, died during treatment at a hospital in city on Sunday.

Tailor was granted an interim bail for seven days on November 3 on medical grounds by a sessions court here. Tailor had asked for 30 days bail. On the day he was to surrender, Tailor had requested the court to extend his bail for 10 days, which was granted since his health had not recovered.


Tailor was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Surat, where he suffered two back-to-back heart attacks on Saturday. Later he was brought to city and admitted to a private hospital on New VIP Road where he died. Tailor, a diabetic, was suffering from lung infection, heart problem and blood pressure.


Tailor's final rites were performed by his family on Sunday afternoon in city.


Even when the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials had arrested him with the kingpin Mansukh Shah, Tailor had to be admitted to hospital due to ill health. Tailor, a retired talati, worked for Shah and was with another co-accused Vinod alias Bharat Savant when he went to collect Rs 20 lakh from the complainant of the case.
