Pauri District Magistrate Sushil Kumar instructed the department concerned to curb illegal mining through frequent raids and directed the amin of the department to make recovery through RC to fulfil the required target while chairing the monthly meeting of the revenue and other departments in Pauri on Thursday.
He sounded unhappy over less recovery of revenue in different Tehsils of the district. DM further asked the district excise officer to conduct raids and make recovery of the penalty to meet the excise target. He said that the revenue recovered so far is far lower than the target fixed.
He mentioned that till now the revenue worth around Rs 6.5 crore has been received, an amount which is much lower than the target set for the department. DM said that the administration must clamp down on liquor smuggling and informed that a joint team would be constituted for the purpose.
DM during the meeting reviewed several things like the performance of the revenue department, the crime scene in the district and the fire safety measures being taken to prevent fire incidents. He said that the work culture of the revenue department must improve a lot while stressing on the pending cases being resolved at the earliest.
He further said that while some cases can be disposed off at the Tehsil levels the rest would be sent to the sub-divisional magistrate for disposal.
While expressing concern over continuance of illegal mining, DM said that the revenue department must conduct raids against such activities in Kotdwar, Srinagar and Satpuli and asked the SDMs to take action against those involved in them. He was also annoyed with absenteeism running unabated in the government offices in the district and asked the SDMs to go for unannounced visits and to list those found absent. DM also asked for action against the encroachers of government lands.
He expressed his annoyance over some officers of the tax department, transport department, district jail and Home Guard being absent from the meeting and demanded the explanation for their non-attendance.
SDM Srinagar has been given instruction to remove the encroachment in the Combined Hospital at Srinagar.
Among others present at the meeting were the additional district magistrate Ramjee Sharan Sharma, SDMs and Tehsildars.
