Govt laxity resulted in suicide by sanitary worker, alleges Cong

The Congress party has charged State Government of being insensitive which forced a sanitary worker of Pandatarai, Bachchulal to

commit suicide allegedly in front of Chief Minister’s residence in his home town Kawardha recently.

In a joint Press conference, former Leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Assembly, Ravindra Chaubey and Senior Congress leader Mohammed Akbar alleged that the laxity of the State administration had led to the death of the sanitary worker.

Notably, Chaubey headed a seven-member State-level inquiry committee of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) which after touring Pandatarai, the home town of Bachchulal, Pandatarai, disclosed the report before the media on Wednesday.

The party leaders said Bachchulal, who was a sanitary worker in civic body of Kawardha, had complained to the District Collector over his retrenchment from his job in the ‘Jandarshan’ programme.

The sanitary worker attempted suicide on November 8 . Because of his serious condition, the doctors of Kawardha referred him to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur, where he succumbed to burn injuries , they said.

Senior Congress leader Mohammed Akbar while addressing the reporters demanded job and ex gratia compensation for the wife of the deceased.
