A 27-year-old Delhi businessman was found dead in Ghaziabad on Friday late night after he went missing on Tuesday.
The family members of the victim suspect that a long pending property dispute was the reason behind the murder.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer district, MN Tiwari, said that the deceased Rahul Saxena’s body was recovered by Ghaziabad Police from a drain near Hindon Lake in Ghaziabad’s Kavi Nagar.
Rahul was running a business of e-rickshaw for the last three years in Kanjhawal area. He was residing in Bhudh Vihar, Rohini with his family which includes his younger sister brother and mother, DCP added.
Rahul’s sister Himani said, “On Tuesday, Rahul texted on my number informing that he had come to Rohini sector 32 with two builders, Sellu and Brijendra, both of whom were his acquaintances. He further mentioned in the text that these builders belonged to sector 22 in Rohini and that he was sensing some foul activity.”
Rahul also texted the same to his employees in showroom and since then he went missing.
“When he did not receive any calls or return home nor his showroom at night, we informed the Sultanpuri police station, but officers did not show any seriousness towards the case instead told us to come after 24 hours,” Himani added.
After 24 hours, when Rahul was still missing we again approached police and then they filed a complaint and started their investigation.
However, contradicting the family’s claim, DCP said that the case under section 365 (Assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation) of IPC was registered on Tuesday itself and investigation was taken up.
On Wednesday, the family allegedly received a ransom call of Rs 20 Lakh and the caller asked them to be ready with the money and that this would be a good lesson for them.
“We received the ransom call in the afternoon and immediately informed police about it. When we checked with the police about any clue in the case, we did not get any confirmation from them. Realizing the police’s insensitivity in the case we started arranging for the money and by the evening we had arranged approximately Rs 10 Lakh. We were waiting for the kidnapper’s call for the address to deliver money but we never got any call from the kidnapper,” alleged the victim’s sister.
After the ransom call, a case under section 365A (kidnapping for ransom) was added in the case, DCP said.
Rahul’s family also stated that, few years back they had a property dispute with their neighbor, whose trial date was on the same day Rahul went missing. Rahul Saxena went in his Etios car and picked the two builders from the way and headed towards Sector 32 in Rohini. Rahul was carrying his I Phone with him which went off by Tuesday’s night.
The car and phone is still missing and has not be recovered yet. There has not been any arrest as well, police saidSection 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC was added to the FIR and further investigations are on in the matter.
