Mild tremors jolt Raj, epicentre in Jodhpur

Jaipur/Jodhpur: Low intensity earthquake having its epicentre at Jodhpur shocked people in the western Rajasthan on Saturday afternoon. Tremors were felt at Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Pali, Jodhpur and Sirohi district of the state.

As per the earthquake report of the IMD, the earthquake was measured 4.2 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was Jodhpur at 3.21 pm on Saturday.


At the Sun City people came out of their houses and offices while tremors were felt. They got calls of their relatives about their well-being while many also contacted their homes to know if their family members were safe. "I was on the third floor of my office when tremors were felt. I came down and saw a large number of people already gathered," said Naveen Bishnoi, an employee of a private bank near Olympic cinema hall road.


The windows and doors including the utensils in the kitchen started rattling with the impact of the tremors and it took people no time to understand that an earth quake has hit the city. Though, no damage,whatsoever, has been reported in the city but there were reports of some cracks in some houses in areas near the city.


Likewise tremors were felt at Jalore, Sirohi, Rajsamand, Pali, Jaisalmer and Barmer district of the state. "No loss of life was reported from anywhere in the state," said an officer with the control room of state disaster management.
