Set in the 17th-century, Gunpowder is a three-part miniseries starring Kit Harington in the role of Robert Catesby who plans to assassinate the King of England. The trailer for this HBO series is out already and the series premieres on December 18. The trailer presents the series as a thriller. Kit’s Robert will be shown engaging in some swordplay along with shooting some guns.

From the trailer, the show is based on the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 which was an assassination attempt to kill King James I of England led by Robert Catesby. The assassins planned to blow up the House of Lords thereby killing their targets. The King got to know about the plan through an anonymous letter and busted the group. A few of them fled while some were arrested and stood for trail later. Historically, the plan failed but we are yet to see how fictionalised the HBO miniseries would be. Incidentally, Kit Harington is a direct descendant of Robert Catesby who actually carried out the plan in the 17th century.

Along with Kit, the series also stars Peter Mullan, Mark Gatiss, Liv Tyler and Tom Cullen. The show premiered in the UK in October 2017 and generated positive reviews from the viewers. The drama has been noted for its violent scenes but it was appreciated nonetheless.

Kit is otherwise known for playing Jon Snow is the HBO series Game of Thrones. His character on the show is hugely popular and is seen as the one who might end on the throne at the end of the series.
