Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were FURIOUS at Jose Mourinho

MANCHESTER UNITED duo Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were reportedly furious with Jose Mourinho last season.

Manchester United duo Rashford and Martial have been in fine form this season, helping the Red Devils to second in the Premier League table.

It is a far cry from last term, where both players failed to fire on a regular basis.

Between them, the two youngsters have 13 goals and 10 assists for the current campaign - a far cry from last term where both players appeared to be missing former boss Louis van Gaal.

And the Daily Mail say Rashford and Martial were both furious with Mourinho during the Portuguese’s maiden season at Old Trafford.

Mourinho strutted into town in May last year, despite Van Gaal winning Manchester United the FA Cup.

Yet two of the biggest success stories of the Dutchman’s reign found themselves struggling.

Rashford was forced to play on the wing with Mourinho often putting his faith in Zlatan Ibrahimovic up top.

Martial, however, often had to make do with a place on the bench.

But the Daily Mail say both men’s biggest grievance came when Mourinho criticised them in the wake of Ibrahimovic’s serious knee injury in April.

The 35-year-old’s season cruelly came to an end in a Europa League game against Anderlecht.

And, after a goalless draw with West Brom, Mourinho was vocally critical of his strike force.

"What I can say is we tried. We had six players absolutely phenomenal in their attitude, mentality and consistency. Valencia, Bailly, Rojo, Young, Carrick and Fellaini,” he said in the wake of that game.

"And then we have four creative players that we need to score a goal and they didn’t.

"They had flashes, moments, they didn’t have consistency and we dropped two points for that.”
