With a new coach and a new set of jerseys, Delhi Dynamos are looking to go all the way in the upcoming season of ISL.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event where Dynamos' new kit was unveiled, their goalkeeper Albino Gomes stated that the new coach of the team, Miguel Angel Portugal, has asked his team to aim for the title while taking every match seriously.
"The coach always talks about winning the trophy, so that is our goal this season. But we are also going to take it match by match and look to perform well," the tall goalie said.
One of the big players in the Delhi team is Nigerian forward Kalu Uche who has plied his trade in the native country of coach Miguel while playing in the La Liga. He feels having been in the same football ecosystem as the coach is beneficial for him.
"Because we have the same philosophy, it's easy to understand each other and I have enjoyed working with our new coach," the former Nigeria international concluded by saying.
While the coach and the kit may have changed, the air pollution in the national capital hasn't gone away. But Gomes revealed that the team is taking necessary precautions to deal with the national capital's air pollution and are not deterred by it.
"The air pollution hasn't affected us much as we don't go out too often and when we train, we do so with masks that have been provided to us by the club. They have also asked us to take other precautions and we are following their advice," he added.
Uche, who is being seen as the trump card for the Dynamos this season, spoke on the occasion about the atmosphere he encounters in India and how it is completely different from what he dealt with in Spain while playing in La Liga. "Everything is different here. The culture, people and the type of football, are all very different from what I saw in Spain. The whole team has been working together for the last six weeks and we are getting to know each other," the 34-year old veteran said.
