On the directions of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh, the leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Indira Hridayesh led party workers in a protest against the expansion of areas under the purview of urban local bodies. The Congress members burnt the state Government in effigy. Strongly objecting to the expansion of the areas under the purview of the urban local bodies, Hridayesh criticised the state government for taking the decision without taking the public into confidence. She said that developmental works were already stalled in existing areas of urban local bodies, considering which the decision to further expand the area was against public interest. Former chief minister Harish Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta, former cabinet minister Dinesh Agrawal, former MLA Rajkumar and other party members were also present at the protest.
