Manic Street Preachers Announce New Album, Huge Tour'Resistance Is Futile' arrives on April 6th...

*Manic Street Preachers* are set to release new album 'Resistance Is Futile' on April 6th.

The band have been working on their thirteenth studio album this year, with singer James Dean Bradfield surfacing to take part in a film score project.

The group's first full album in four years, it's described as a return to that classic Manics sound - something the Welsh trio deem "widescreen melancholia".

Manic Street Preachers have released the following statement:

"The main themes of ‘Resistance Is Futile’ are memory and loss; forgotten history; confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration. It’s obsessively melodic - in many ways referencing both the naive energy of ‘Generation Terrorists’ and the orchestral sweep of ‘Everything Must Go’. After delay and difficulties getting started, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months through a surge of creativity and some old school hard work."

Recorded at the band's new Door to the River studio (near Newport), 'Resistance Is Futile' will be released on April 6th.
