Vadodara: Opposition Congress in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has demanded that the civic body waive off the taxes for hockey ground of the Baroda District Hockey Association (BDHA).
The ground was first sealed by the VMC following which the royal family that owns the ground paid Rs 31lakh towards the pending amount of around Rs 31.6 lakh. The ground has now been locked by its owners. The hockey players had made representations to the VMC regarding the ground on Thursday to which the VMC had expressed helplessness saying that it was a matter between the association and the royal family that is the owner of the plot.
VMC opposition leader Chandrakant Shirvastava said that the association was giving training to players at a negligible fees. He added that the association was in no position to pay the tax. tnn
