It has been revealed that 24-year-old model Hart Denton is joining the cast as Chic Cooper, the long-lost brother of Betty Cooper (played by Lili Reinhart).

Spoilers from TVLine revealed that the character will be popping up midway through the season two, but who is Hart Denton and how did he win a role in one of Netflix’s most popular series?

His late appearance has been adding to theories that he could be the Black Hood, who is "cleansing" Riverdale of all its sinners.

The Black Hood has a fixation with Betty and has been contacting her constantly with threatening messages and phone calls.

Surely only Betty's brother Chic could know her so well? 

Who is Hart Denton?

Hart Denton is a rather handsome 24-year-old model and actor who currently resides in Los Angeles.

Hart’s background appears to mostly be in modelling, having previously been signed to the well known Wilhelmina agency.

His acting credits thus far include an appearance on a 2016 episode of Lethal Weapon, and starring alongside Molly Shannon, Toni Collette for Fun Mom Dinner.

Hart’s Instagram profile is littered with professional modelling shots, and it’s almost certain the brooding actor will be a hit with fans of Riverdale.

When will Betty’s long-lost brother Chic Cooper arrive in Riverdale?

Chic Cooper, who will be a recurring character on the series, is slated to come to town midway through season two.

Seeing that Hart is already in Vancouver with the cast, fans are guessing his big arrival could happen during the recently taped Christmas episode, ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’.

Chic's existence was only revealed in the season one finale when Betty’s mother Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick) confessed she gave up a baby for adoption in high school.

Hart isn’t the only new addition to Riverdale season two as other newcomers include Mark Conseulos as Hiram Lodge, the father of Veronica (Camila Mendes), and The Good Wife veteran Graham Phillips as Nick St. Clair, an old pal of Veronica's. 

There’s also a new actor portraying Reggie Mantle with Charles Melton taking over the role from Ross Butler, who had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts with Netflix's 13 Reasons Why.

When does Riverdale season 2 start?

Riverdale season two will premiere tonight at 8pm ET on CW in the US. Its previous Thursday 9pm ET time slot is being replaced by Arrow.

Riverdale will then air on Netflix tomorrow, October 12, on a weekly schedule, in a similar fashion to the first season of the hit series.

Season two will have a staggering 22 episode run – nine more than season one.

The first episode of season two was revealed in May by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who gave away the episode’s title and possible spoilers.

In the tweet he posted a picture of the production draft for the premiere episode titled: “Chapter Fourteen: A Kiss Before Dying”.

The picture reveals a knocked over milkshake in a pool of blood, suggesting the series will pick up right where it ended – with Archie’s dad being shot in Pop’s diner.
