Boston weren’t given a chance of beating Golden State before the game with Charles Barkley stating he can PROMISE the reigning champions won’t be held to 94 points.

He was off by six points as a mixture of the bad shooting from Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and tough defence from the Celtics helped recorded their biggest win of the season.

It wasn’t pretty at times with the Warriors taking a commanding lead early on but the Celtics twice rallied back in the second and third quarter to give them a chance.

Jaylen Brown led the way for the Celtics with 22 points and seven rebounds while Al Horford recorded a double-double.

Most of their work was done at the free-throw line as they missed just five from 38 attempts.

Kyrie Irving didn’t have his best night, shooting 25 per cent from the floor but came up with two clutch free throws late on to give the Celtics a 90-88 lead before Jayson Tatum made sure of the win.

Brown led the way with two three-pointers and great hustle on the defensive end to cut down the Warriors’ 17 point lead.

The teams were never separated by more than four points in the fourth quarter with a mixture of shooting woes from both ends and rugged defensive play.

But as the game drew to it’s end, the momentum switched to Boston with the home fans getting up on their feet to show their support.

The game pitted the best defence against the best offence in the league and the former came out on top.
