AIZAWL: Three people allegedly belonging to the Arakan Army (AA) have been receiving treatment in Mizoram since Monday, police officials in south Mizoram's Lawngtlai district, adjoining Myanmar's Arakan (Rakhine) state, said.

The three were apparently injured in a clash with the Myanmar Army inside the Arakan state. The trio — Thuan-Thuan (31) of Ywataia village, Cho-cho (27) of Pungai and Aung-Aung (21) of Maichanta (all from Arakan district) — crossed the border and entered Mizoram, a source said.

They were treated in Lawngtlai district hospital before Thuan-Thuan was moved to the state capital for better treatment.

The condition of the other two are not serious, the source added. More than 400 people have fled Arakan in the last few months owing to clashes between the Arakan Army and the Myanmar Army, home minister R Lalzirliana told the assembly on Wednesday.

He said the refugees have taken up shelter in the southern part of Lawngtlai district — mainly in Laitlang, Hmawngbuchhuah and Zochawchhuah villages — and have received food and shelter from the local people and the district administration.

But no Rohingya Muslim refugee has entered Mizoram till date, the home minister added. Lalzirliana admitted that of the 400 who have reached Mizoram, three received injuries during clashes with the Myanmar Army.

"Relevant sections of the Foreigners Act were registered against the three militants at the Lawngtlai Police Station as they entered India without permission and valid travel documents," the police, meanwhile, said.
