PUNE: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board's khadi outlet at Handmade Paper Institute campus in Agriculture College on Thursday. It is the board's first kadhi outlet in the state. Vishal Chordia, chairman of the board, said, "There is talent and skilled labour in the rural areas of the state. However, lack of proper market for their products is hampering the sales.

They also lack in the means of marketing and advertising their products. Therefore, we came up with this concept of having outlets to bridge these gaps." He said having products from all across the state will not only help in creating a strong brand but also provide a variety of commodities to the customers under one roof. "Creation of a strong brand and increased demand will help rural labourers.

It will also help in reviving rural art and generate employment opportunities," he added. Apart from khadi products, the store will also have several other commodities manufactured by rural entrepreneurs. To spread awareness about this initiative the board recently started a Maha Khadi Yatra through 21 districts, which will end on December 19 at winter assembly session in Nagpur.
