PANAJI : The chief minister Manohar Parrikar-headed high power monitoring committee directed that a tourism master plan, a 25-year vision document, be prepared at the earliest.

In July 2014, Goa government appointed KPMG Advisory Services and Tourism Leisure (T&L), a consultancy firm to prepare the master plan.

"There has been a delay in finalizing the plan. The election code of conduct due to the assembly elections, was one of the reasons for the delay," an official said.

Of the six modules of the master plan, three have been submitted by the consultant, and approved by the government. The draft module 4 which comprises the tourism policy has been submitted to the government.

The officer said the committee reviewed major tourism projects and services with the chief minister issuing directions to departments to give required permissions without further delay.

The proposed ropeway bridge project from Panaji to Reis Magos awarded to M/s Menus Adventure Pvt Ltd, has been affected as the concessionaire faced difficulties in getting permission.

Parrikar told the meeting that there are ways of doing things and the departments have to learn to communicate with each other more often to find these ways.
