PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The standing committee of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has approved a short notice proposal to appoint a principal consultant to drive development in the city. The consultant, who will be paid Rs7.5 crore, will set up and manage the city transformation office (CTO) that will manage key projects.
According to municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar, the CTO's main mandate would be to ease the process of implementing projects.
"A number of hurdles arise during the implementation of civic projects, like delay in obtaining permissions from relevant authorities. These delays push back the date of completion of the projects. So the CTO will have a team of six experts to follow up on these issues for the first year. Thereafter, five experts will be attached to the office for the duration of the contract," Hardikar said.
The consultant will begin work in December. "The CTO will be implemented in four phases over two years," Hardikar said, adding that the project could be extended by a year, if needed.
