The tense instalment left viewers on the edge of their seats as a group of Italians ambushed the Birmingham-based family and began shooting.

Just before the credits began to roll, John (played Joe Cole) and Michael Gray’s (Finn Cole) bodies could be seen lying lifeless on the ground.

Although the shocking attack stunned fans of the BBC One show, many were left distracted by Tommy’s (Cillian Murphy) new look.

The head of the mafia clan sported a more defined hairdo with shorter locks and wore a pair of round-framed glasses throughout the episode.

Those watching the crime drama were sent into a frenzy as he looked completely different to the previous season as he shunned his flap cap.

One person was loving his new style as they wrote on Twitter: “When you think Tommy Shelby can’t possibly get any hotter… they throw some glasses at him and bang @BBCTwo @ThePeakyBlinder."

“Didn't think it was possible for Tommy Shelby to get any fitter... but them glasses WOW #PeakyBlinders," said another happy viewer.

A third fan was totally blown away with his new spectacles as they commented: “Tommy is really gonna have to take the glasses off before my ovaries explode #PeakyBlinders.”

But some fans weren’t too keen as someone wrote: "Nooo they’ve ruined Tommy with that haircut and glasses #PeakyBlinders.”
