Clinton: Jeff Sessions Investigating Me, Would Be An 'Abuse of Power'

Hillary Clinton says if the Justice Department decides to investigate her role in the Uranium One deal it would be quote “a disastrous step into politicizing the Justice Department.” Clinton chastising the move, telling publication Mother Jones “this is such an abuse of power,” as Jeff Sessions, under pressure from President Trump, announced he’s considering appointing a special counsel to investigate any illegal dealings between the Clinton Foundation and the 2010 sale of Canadian company Uranium One, which gave Russians financial interest to 20% of the U.S.’s uranium supply.

Hillary Clinton was secretary of state at the time, and had a voting seat on the panel which approved the deal.

Sessions’s made the announcement before appearing before lawmakers where Republicans praised the move while Democrats worried the agency wasn’t acting independently.

Trump has been frustrated with the ongoing Russia investigation, questioning why the Justice Department wasn’t investigating what he’s called “Watergate, modern-age.” But on Fox News, host Shepard Smith took the rare opportunity to forcefully debunk Trump’s claim.
