Rani Mukerji was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award as part of the run-up to the 50th independence celebrations of Mauritius.

Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth conferred the honour on the actor during the Mauritius Cinema Week recently. Rani was thrilled to be back in the island nation where several of her films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Hello Brother (1999) and Bichhoo (2000) have been shot.
