What is the best thing I can get my girlfriend for her birthday without relying on money to impress her? I have given her expensive gifts in the past.
I think spending time doing the things she likes doing is a nice way of showing her how much you care. You don't need to do this just on her birthday either. All you need to do is show someone that you care about them. It's not rocket science, is it?
My boyfriend thinks I am incapable of a serious relationship with him, simply because I have had four relationships before this, while he has never had a girlfriend before. He fails to understand that the relationships I had in the past mean nothing to me, which is why I ended them. He doesn't look at what we have as special, simply because he thinks I am using him until I find someone else, which is insulting. I have tried to get him to take me seriously for a long time, but he isn't convinced. I really do love him a lot, and get along with him so well that I believewe could actually spend the rest of our lives together, if only he saw it too. How do I get him to understand this?
Your boyfriend is clearly one of those regressive, frustrated men who would do well in a job at the Censor Board. If you can't convince him, ask yourself if you really want to spend your life with someone who holds such an attitude. This is an early indication of how he thinks, which is extremely important if you hold differing views. Your actions ought to speak louder than words, so if he doesn't feel the love you have for him, there's not much else you can do about this. I suggest you give yourself some time to get him to see things from your point of view, and prepare to move on if he doesn't. You will be just fine.
