Noted writer and social activist Ramkrishna Kothari was felicitated for his special contribution to the fields of literature and social service at a programme organised by the Kumaon University here on Sunday.
The university vice-chancellor professor DK Nauriyal presided over the function during which Kothari presented him a cheque for `5 lakh to be used for motivating and rewarding students for commendable contribution in the field of literature. The Ekta Upahar Kavyamrit penned by Kothari was also released on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the vice chancellor said that the amount donated by Kothari in the name of his parents, will be used to create a fund which will be used to felicitate students who make commendable contribution in the fields of literature and social service to motivate the students to come forward for work in the sphere of social service.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Kothari stressed that an individual’s life should also be useful for society, nation and other people. He said that it was society which had shown him the path towards literary creation and other positive actions. On the occasion, about 50 persons were felicitated jointly by the university and Kothari for their work in various spheres
