In all probability, the next-generation Maruti Ertiga could be launched in 2018 in India. India's largest carmaker is testing the new Ertiga MPV extensively and was recently spotted testing in the country.
In a new spy shot revealed by Motoroids, the 2018 Ertiga test mule is fully camouflaged but gives us a fair idea of what could be in store for the MPV. The new Maruti Ertiga is expected to boast of larger dimensions along with a host of new and premium features.
From the spy images of the next-generation Maruti Ertiga, the camouflaged MPV is seen with newly designed alloy wheels, while the rear profile looks a lot larger than the current model. The large rear overhang of the new Ertiga suggests Maruti is reworking the space of the third row.
Apart from the exterior design, the new-generation Maruti Ertiga will be underpinned by Suzuki's new Heartect platform, which also underpins the new generation Swift hatchback and the new Dzire subcompact sedan.
Along with the dimension growing big, the features on the next-generation Ertiga such as a new touchscreen infotainment system seen on the new Dzire which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
The all-new Ertiga is also expected to come with automatic climate control, and dual front airbags are expected to be standard as well. Other upgrades include projector headlamps with DRLs, LED taillights, and more.
The next-generation Maruti Ertiga is expected to be powered by the same 1.4-litre petrol engine, while we hope the 1.5-litre diesel engine being developed by the company to replace the current 1.3-litre unit. Maruti will offer both the 5-speed manual and the AMT gearbox on the next-generation Ertiga.

The third row of the current Maruti Ertiga has been a bit of challenge not just for taller passenger, but even for an average person. From the spy pics, Maruti seems to be working on the third row to make the MPV more viable in the market.
