Gandhinagar : Soon after the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) on Thursday charged the BJP with unleashing a calumny campaign against their leadership and hit back with a CD of their own urging supporters to wrench such elements from the roots and consign them to oblivion in the forthcoming elections, the Gujarat government moved to extend an olive branch to the agitating Patidars.

Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, PAAS leader Dinesh Bhambhaniya said there are 52 more sex CDs of PAAS leaders including 22 of Hardik that have been prepared by the BJP under instructions from chief minister Vijay Rupani and state BJP chief Jitu Vaghani. A sum of over Rs 40 crores has been spent to get such CDs prepared abroad and images morphed to show Hardik and others in bad light.

He said that they had information that BJP leaders were at work trying to get a woman to level allegations of rape so that an FIR can be registered and the Patidar agitation leader and his associates are put behind bars.

Giving details of the CD, Bhambhaniya said it was the handiwork of Surat PAAS member Vipul Patel and builder Bimal Patel who had felicitated the switch of one-time PAAS cadre Reshma Patel and Varun Patel to the BJP earlier.

According to published reports, Reshma had approached the Congress for a ticket to contest the elections but switched to BJP after she was denied the ticket.

After announcement of his name, Vipul’s house in Surat was the scene of protests by PAAS cadres but he was reported to be missing.

A day earlier Hardik had put out a CD of his own urging his supporters to teach ”them” a lesson and send them cartwheeling out of power. Though no names were taken the implication was obvious.

The one-minute video that has made it to social media makes an emotional appeal.“What did we ask for, merely our rights. A brighter future for young ones of our community. In return, they gave us the wrong end of the stick, bullets and atrocities to our women. Do we forget all this and sit with them? No, this cannot be done because it would be an insult to our martyrs. We have been fooled for long, no longer. It is time to seek collective revenge, not for me but for the community,” it states.

Meanwhile, Patidar quota stir spearhead Hardik Patel’s former close aide Chirag Patel, who is facing sedition charges along with Hardik, on Thursday joined the ruling BJP in the presence of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.
