75 people of Khan’s village booked in past 15 years

Alwar: The Alwar police which has been probing the murder of Ummar Khan (35) went through the past criminal records and found that as many as 75 people of Khan's Ghatmika village were chargsheeted under Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughterand Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act.

In most of the cases in which charge sheets have been filed, were registered two to 15 years ago.


The figures with Alwar police reveal that about 15to 20 people of Ghatmika village were booked by Alwar, Bharatpur and Dausa police under bovine act. "About 40 people have 15 to 20 cases registered against them in the bovine act. There are 140 other cases involving 100 people against whom investigation is pending and a charge sheet has to be filed. These are also cases dating back to five to ten years," said the official.


Ummar Khan, belonged to the same village along with Javeed and Tahir Khan, his aide who was wounded in the firing. The police said that Tahir had about five cases registered against him under the bovine act, whereas Javed was found to be involved in smuggling cows in stolen vehicles and hence cases have been filed against him for theft and loot.


Javed's father Ismail also has three cases registered against him under the bovine ac. The officials claimed that many villagers of Ghatmika have been booked in offences such as duping people by offering them fake gold brick, extortion, loot and murder.
