NOIDA: A 55-year old security guard was hacked to death and his lifeless body was found in the lawn of a bungalow, which is under renovation, in Sector 36 on Wednesday morning. The deceased Girish Chandra Sharma's head was crushed with a heavy object, supposedly an axe, and his skull came out.
The house owner, Vijay Kumar Mishra, is a technical director at J K Tyres and lives with his family in Delhi.
Sharma, a native of Sambhal, had shifted to Khoda colony with his family two years ago. He had been working as a security guard with Noida based Security Company - CDI Security Services. Mukesh Kumar, Sharma's elder son, said that his father was assigned new job at the three-story bungalow on November 8. "On Wednesday morning I received a call from police that my father was murdered by unknown persons. He was brutally murdered. He had no personal enmity and we do not know who murdered him," Kumar told TOI.
Arun Kumar Singh, SP City (Noida) said the incident came to light at 7 am when another security guard Govind Khanka reached the bungalow to take charge after shift change. "I found Sharma lying in a pool of blood and his head was badly crushed. There are some CCTV cameras at the premises but they are non-functional due to renovation works and the incident has not been captured," he said.
Police scanned the premises and found that the goods and valuables were in place. The victim's mobile phone was also found at the spot. Investigating officials said prima facie it seems the murder is an act of revenge. "The security guards do not open the gates at night to unknown persons. But his body was found in the lawn outside the main door, and it indicates some known persons had visited the house," said police.
Police have registered a case of murder against unknown persons and investigating the matter with all angles. The body was sent for a post-mortem and medical reports are awaited.
