NEW DELHI: Midcap stocks GMR Infrastructure (down 5.88 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 4.94 per cent) and Reliance Communications (down 4.76 per cent) were trading down in afternoon trade on Wednesday.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.09 per cent down at 16,480 around 01:20 pm (IST).

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power (down 4.40 per cent), Godrej Industries (down 3.12 per cent), Adani Enterprises (down 2.64 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (down 2.55 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 2.01 per cent) and Max Financial Services (down 1.86 per cent) were also trading in the negative zone.

On the other hand, shares of Biocon (up 7.27 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 3.18 per cent), Page Industries (up 3.04 per cent), Oberoi Realty (up 2.86 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (up 2.55 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 2.45 per cent) and Union Bank of India (up 2.01 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 99 points down at 32,843, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 36 points down at 10,151.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

ICICI Bank, Asian Paints, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hero MotoCorp and Power Grid Corporation were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

On the contrary, Sun Pharma, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, ITC, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever were among the top losers.
