Rajkot: Two eunuchs were allegedly beaten and burnt to death by two unidentified eunuchs of rival group near Sannada village of Morbi on Morbi-Rajkot highway during wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Bhuro Khatri alias Faizan Khatri and Ragini De alias Jagdish Gadhvi.

According to the police, two persons entered a shanty in which the deceased were asleep and assaulted them. They then doused the place in kerosene and set it ablaze around 2.30 am on Wednesday. The fire spread so quickly that Bhuro and Ragini had little time to escape and got engulfed in the fire.

While Khatri died on the spot, Ragini succumbed to burn injuries at Rajkot Civil Hospital.

Police said the deceased duo had a dispute with another group of eunuchs while collecting money from people at the toll booth between Morbi and Halvad a few days back. Ragini's relative Januben Gadhvi lodged an FIR with the Morbi A Division police station and accused two eunuchs — Khushbu De of Morbi and Rajyo Paniyaro of Rajkot — of hatching conspiracy to murder Bhuro and Ragini.

Morbi A Division police station inspector B P Sonara said primary investigation suggests that Bhuro and Ragini were killed over rivalry between eunuch groups. "We have booked Khusbhu, Rajyo and two unidentified persons for murder and criminal conspiracy. Two persons are yet to be identified," Sonara said.
