Man City news: Sergio Aguero injury update – club statement

MANCHESTER CITY may be without their key striker Sergio Aguero for the upcoming Premier League clash with Leicester on Saturday (3pm), a club statement has confirmed.

Sergio Aguero is a doubt for City's clash with Leicester on Saturday.

The forward was on the scoresheet today as his Argentina side lost 4-2 to Nigeria in Russia.

Aguero was rushed to hospital after collapsing at half-time, but fortunately doctors have revealed that he never lost consciousness.

The 29-year-old has been given the all clear to fly home from eastern Europe but is doubtful to face the Foxes this weekend.

"Sergio Aguero has been cleared by doctors to return to Manchester as planned after suffering a dizzy spell during Argentina’s 4-2 defeat by Nigeria in Krasnodar today," the statement read.

The striker was injured while on international duty with Argentina.

Sergio never lost consciousness, and was taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks.

Manchester City released a statement this evening.

"Sergio never lost consciousness, and was taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks.

"He will be assessed by the club’s medical team ahead of this weekend’s Premier League trip to Leicester City."

Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli claimed after the match Aguero had "got dizzy."

It is the second time this season that the ex-Atletico Madrid forward has suffered a potentially devastating injury.

The striker was involved in a car crash in September in Holland but escaped with only a few broken ribs.

He was given a two month recovery diagnosis but came back early having only missed two games.

And the Blues will be hoping he returns in a similar timeframe this time as they look to extend their eight point gap at the top of the table.
