VARANASI: A neurologist at the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University and his team have developed an application to block unwanted sites, especially pornographic ones, to do away with the onslaught of trash and misinformation on the internet.

Named 'Har Har Mahadev', the application is designed to block pornography, violence and vulgar content circulating on the world wide web. Once downloaded and registered, the app will play devotional songs whenever the user attempts to open any 'inappropriate' site.

"We have developed the website blocker and internet filtering services, so one can surf safely without any fear of opening adult or objectionable sites," said Dr Vijay Nath Mishra of IMS-BHU's neurology department. The app took six months to complete, he added.
