NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday said that it had discussed most seats for the Gujarat election, and would declare the list of candidates at the "right time."
"The discussion for most of the seats for Gujarat election has been done, list will be declared at the right time," ANI quoted Union minister JP Nadda as saying.
Nadda was addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting.
The minister added that some seats were yet to be discussed.
The CEC meeting was presided over by party president Amit Shah, and attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh, and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, and members of the election committee.
The state's deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, BJP state in-charge Bhupender Yadav and state BJP president Jitu Vaghani were also present at the two-hour long meeting.
Elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly will take place on December 9 and 14, with counting of votes scheduled for December 18.
Nadda also spoke about the imminent legislative council elections in Karnataka.
"As far as the legislative council of Karnataka is concerned, for all the 6 seats a list has been declared. It will be on the website," he said.
Ayanur Manjunath was named the candidate for South-West Graduates, Ganesh Karnik for South-West Teachers, B Niranjan Murthy for South Teachers, KB Shrinivas for North-East Graduates, Haalanur S Lepakshi for South-East Teachers and A Devegowda for Bangalore Graduates constituency, ANI reported.
