Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Punjab government and the Punjab Public Service Commission on a petition seeking recording of the job interviews in audio and video forms to ensure transparency in the selection process.

The division bench of Justices Ajay Kumar Mittal and Amit Rawal sought a response from the government on the directions sought in the plea filed by a Moga resident through advocate Hari Chand Arora. “The track record of the PPSC, Patiala is very disappointing,” the petitioner has said in the plea and cited previous instances of corruption charges in the recruitment as a ground for his prayer.

Advocate Arora in the plea has referred to a 2009 judgment of a division bench of the High Court, which had directed the Haryana Public Service Commission to maintain records of interviews in the video and audio form to ensure transparency . “The HC may issue similar directions to the Punjab Public Service Commission also,” Arora has said in the plea and also cited the notification issued by Goa Government, which has directed the Goa Public Service Commission to maintain such records of all interviews.
