Amid protest, Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) on Tuesday demolished 23 unauthorised houses in Rakhi village in new capital region.
According to NRDA officials, the encroachers were already rehabilitated and were also given compensation in cash. But demanding more compensation, they sat on a dharna when the action was being taken, they informed.
Police, which accompanied the drive arrested about 100 villagers to control the situation.
According to information from Station House Officer, Rakhi, B.R. Sahu, the NRDA initiated the eviction drive and razing the encroachments in the Rakhi village in the morning.
According to information, the villagers were protesting that the compensation was insufficient for the big families which have more than 10 members.
