Taking cognisance of the story published in The Pioneer on November 8 on how a seven-year-old gangrape victim was denied treatment at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has taken suo-motu cognisance of report and has asked the Department of Health and Welfare, Delhi Government to provide a detailed report on the alleged lapses.
Referring to the news report, Maliwal said, “Considering the gravity of the matter, please provide the above-mentioned information latest by November 16.”
In the letter to the Delhi Government, Maliwal said, asked for a detailed point wise report on the number of ultrasound machines in the Maharishi Valmiki Hospital along with status of functioning of each.
The DCW chief further asked for a complete list of resident doctors in the Hospital along with details of their department and posting done in the last 4 months.
“Provide us a list of department-wise female doctors in the hospital along with shift timings of each. Whether any action has been taken or is proposed to be taken against the concerned officers. If yes, please provide complete details of the same,” the letter, which is with The Pioneer stated.
Pointing towards the alleged lapses that were mentioned in the news report, Maliwal in her letter also demanded details of steps taken by the Health Department till date to resolve the issues, if any, along with relevant documents.
The letter also sought details of visits made by the secretary and Director of health department to the hospital in the last two years, if any.
