Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Humour Society Trust will host the 11th edition of 'Laughathon', a stand-up comedy event, on November 19 in the city. The event will see best comedians from across the country perform and make Coimbatoreans laugh. The event will be held in association with The Times of India at Hotel Le Meridien.

Big names such as Rajneesh Kapoor from New Delhi will perform at the event. "The best part of this event is that we have comedians from all four directions of the country. Rajneesh is from New Delhi and Abhijit Ganguly from West Bengal. Since we have completed a decade, we wanted to ensure that we have no repetition not just in comedians but also in their jokes and themes. There will a right mix of people from across the country speaking mostly in English," said L Sabhaa Singharam, chairman of the event. He added that all these performers have done hundreds of shows across the world and have been in the business of comedy for several years.

Abijit Ganguly has been performing for nearly six years now and has completed 2,000 shows. Sumit Anand has been regularly featured on national television shows and has also performed several shows in Singapore recently. Representing the southern part of the country is Alexander Babu, former software engineer turned yoga instructor, who plans to bring his distinct style of comedy and hilarious tales from everyday life.

Sabhaa said that this will be a four hour show from 5pm to 9pm and each of the performers will get half an hour slot. Apart from these four, Sonali Thakker, a renowned stand-up comedian, will host the show. Dr Lakshmipathy, the founder of the Coimbatore Humour Society Trust, will also perform in the event.
