Science college to celebrate foundation day today

PATNA: Patna Science College is set to celebrate its 91st foundation day on Wednesday. The premier institute's former principal K K Jha and Patna University (PU) vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh will grace the celebrations and award gold medals to toppers of different honours exams.


"Students, who have excelled in national-level competitions and brought laurels to the institution, will also be felicitated. Besides, teachers and non-teaching staff, who retired in the last one year, will be honoured on the occasion," principal Sudhir Kumar Srivastava said on Tuesday.


Established in July 1927, Patna Science College started functioning independently from 1928 when its buildings were inaugurated by Lord Irwin on November 15. The college is centrally located in Patna, occupying an area of approximately 28.32 acres of land and containing separate blocks for different science departments.


Science college has a great legacy and has been striving continuously to maintain and improve it. It has been the breeding ground for future scientists, researchers and administrators and boasts of its distinguished alumni holding high positions in diverse fields of science, medicine, engineering, banking and administration.
