ALLAHABAD: Fake IDs are being used to send obscene and vulgar movie clip or photograph on cell phones and social networking sites of fairer sex in Allahabad.
In the past three days, the police have blocked 8 such fake IDs and making efforts to ascertain the identity of the miscreants involved in it and arrest them.
The data of the cyber crime cell of the district police reflect that internet crime against fairer sex in Sangam city is showing an alarming trend.
Investigations by crime branch officials into complaints related to sending obscene or vulgar message on women cell phone or social networking sites revealed that such messages are being sent by fake IDs and police authorities are initially blocking such sites and further making attempt to catch the offenders.
Two teams have also been assigned the task to identify senders involved in sending obscene and vulgar message on cell phones and social sites with fake IDs and ensure their arrest. SP (crime) Brijesh Mishra said that 40 complaints were received by the crime branch and 32 of them were sorted out. Eight complaints are pending.
The cyber crime cell of the district police have introduced the WhatsApp facility for women for speedy disposal of complaints related to cyber crime and received 40 complaints within three days of its launch. The complaints were related to harassment, sending obscene messages on mobile or social media (Facebook).
The police had also disconnected or blocked eight IDs on Facebook account that were created with fake IDs and used for sending obscene remarks or pictures. Complaints from Delhi, Gwalior, Saharanpur, Rewa, Kanpur, Bahraich and other places were received by the officials and sent to the places concerned for action.
