Chennai registers daytime temperature of 25 C, lowest of the year

CHENNAI: The city recorded its coldest 'day' this year, when the maximum temperature fell by nearly five degrees below normal on Monday morning, thanks to dense cloud cover. The coldest night had been experienced in January, when the minimum temperature fell to 20 C.


Around 10.30am, the city recorded its maximum temperature of 25.9 C. At Meenambakkam, in the southern suburb, the maximum temperature was 25 C. The minimum temperature on Monday was 22.8 C, which is normal for the season.


In November, the city experiences an average maximum and minimum temperature of 29.9 C and 23.1 C, as per the climatological table (1981-2010).
