Five swanky indoor stadiums will be built in the next two years, says LVS

‘Sportspersons give their best to organisations they join’

Special Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam on Monday said that the State government was preparing a road map for the construction of five international-standard indoor stadiums in various cities of the State in the next two years.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the 33rd All India Postal Table Tennis Tournament here, he said a swanky indoor stadium will come up at Vidhyadarapuram by December 2018. “Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation is in need of sports infrastructure and under the guidance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu it will see a spurt in days to come.”

Highlighting the qualities of a sportsman he said sportspersons, in any organisation, were more reliable for they are known for their discipline, commitment, team work and always exhibited the never-say-die attitude.

“Sportspersons always try to give their best. Any department which appoints sports persons can be rest assured that they will be helping in enhance the image of the organisation in a big way. I am happy the postal department is appointing 32 persons under sports quota in A.P. circle,” he added.

Addressing the gathering players, Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) senior vice-president S.M. Sultan requested the top bureaucrat to use his good offices and upgrade the lighting facilities at the DRRMC Indoor Stadium.

Badminton Associating of India secretary K.Ch. Punnaiah Chowdary said that postal department always played an important role in prompting sports among its employees and shared his experiences with the department in conducing badminton tournaments in the country.

Colourful march past

Chief Postmaster General (A.P. Circle) K. Balasubramanian and Postmaster General Radhika Chakravarthy took part in the inauguration function in which players from 15 circles performed a colourful march past. The five- day event will conclude on November 17.
