F1 news: Flavio Briatore SLAMS Ferrari for not signing Max Verstappen from Red Bull
FERRARI should have nabbed Max Verstappen from Red Bull.
That’s the verdict of Flavio Briatore, who used to manage Formula One teams Benetton and Renault.
Ferrari currently have Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen on their books - drivers who’ve won five titles between them.
And they’ve opted to retain both racers for next season, with Vettel and Raikkonen under contract until the winters of 2020 and 2018 respectively.
Verstappen, meanwhile, has turned heads fans and pundits alike at Red Bull this term and is due to compete in F1 with them for another three years.
I would sign Verstappen with my eyes closed
Briatore believes Ferrari have made a mistake in not getting Verstappen on-board in Raikkonen’s place.
"I don't know what (Sergio) Marchionne will do, he is unpredictable," Briatore explained to Italian broadcaster Rai.
"But with Raikkonen you will never win the constructors' title.

"To win you need two good drivers, and Ferrari does not have that.
"I would sign Verstappen with my eyes closed.
“He is the only real driver that people want to see - a gladiator that they do everything to penalise in every race.”
Verstappen and co. will conclude the 2017 F1 season at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday November 26.
