GURUGRAM: In a relief to commuters, a Gurgaon-based startup — Wagon Cab — has launched a fleet of 1,750 cabs to operate across Delhi-NCR, minus surge pricing and waiting charges.

MBA graduate Arpan Aggarwal is the founder of this app-based cab aggregator. Aggarwal said, "We're not only offering a flat rate of Rs 10 per kilometre, there will also be no surge pricing during peak hours, no cancellation and no waiting charges."

He said the company wanted to promote the use of CNG cabs and cut down emission by reducing use of petrol or diesel-run four-wheelers.

He added, "We have successfully completed 2,473 rides in the first two weeks of launch (on October 28), with 750 drivers. Now, we are expanding our fleet to 2,000 cabs and targeting 10,000 more customers by the end of this month."

According to Aggarwal, the startup is currently bootstrapped by him and co-founder Uttam Bose. It will work on the subscription model, wherein drivers will be paying Rs 100 per day to the company at the end of every month. The company is not charging the drivers till November 19, after which it will start charging the subscription fee.

Customers will pay drivers directly in cash or through Paytm (toll tax and parking extra, if applicable).

Bose said the company was following a triple-step verification process for drivers and their vehicles. The process includes personal verification as well as verification of driver's licence and Aadhaar card. The vehicle's verification is done through fitness and registration certificates.

The startup has announced five emergency numbers for commuters in case of any breach of safety or emergency. Commuter Harshit Patel said, "The biggest plus is the transparency. From start to end of the journey, there is no hidden cost." However, availability of cabs is an issue, he added.
